and opportunities abound at China Ranch. Trails vary in length from a few
hundred yards to several miles. October through April are
the best months in order to avoid the intense summer heat. Routes may include
lush riparian strips that are excellent habitat for birding, narrow rock
canyons, winding arroyo badlands, mining and railroad ruins, as well as paleo-indian campsites.

Free 7 day limit W side of town on Douglas St. Dump located in Superior.
There are 3, 30 amp boxes with back in parking on the south side. There is a
dump station and water on the West Side. There is a donation box by the parking
area. We are 36 ft long and we fit. Maximum length would be 40 ft with the rear
of the coach at the curb. Go south on
state 79 to Douglas St and turn right. Go until you see the park. There is a
donation box.
A
good stop in Nebraska is Platte River Museum, free in the parking lot. The downer is that it is right next to the
interstate. Exit into Kearney, go right and follow the

I tested most of them and they are

with plastic covers, and 3 pair of 20 amp
boxes. No 50 amp at all. The park is on the west edge of town on
the south side of the state #2 road. It
is hard to see as the sign is in need of new paint. The spaces are not marked and are for back
in. this is a "u" shaped area
with no possible way to park otherwise. Be courteous and back in. There is water on the west side of the
parking area and in the park across the
road. The parking area is old asphalt with sand. In need of
mowing around the boundary.
Entry from the highway is thru two brick columns spaced on each
side of the drive. I’m 36ft with a tow
dolly and it worked for me. I was west bound making my turn. If you are east
bound, making the turn will be from the
highway, be careful. Nice place to
stop for free, no donation box is noted.
There is a 9 hole golf course I’ll play
tomorrow, $10.00. Don’t know about the cart
yet. To help these little towns, when
you stop, spend some money. We will be here several
days. I need about 5/8 of a tank of gas, 75 gal tank, at 2.31.9. We will make at least one trip to
the grocery store, laundry (we have a
washer/dryer), and eat out. There
appears to be a dump in the park but, it’s a back up to and then it’s a good 10 feet away from the
drive. A 20 ft hose is a must. Exiting
thru a side road is possible but watch for low limbs. It’s a residential area. Edit- the cart price is $9.00. Nice course,
links style. Edit- the dump is full of
sand and not usable. The nice motel does have RV hook ups, for a price. Since
we need to dump, we will see what the price is and if there is another dump
site here. The forest site 15 miles east of here has a dump at $3.00 for daily
use fee. Edit- the nearest coin laundry
is Mullen, 5 miles west of Thedford. for pics, see my blog at www.richardnshirley.blogspot.com.
This is a small place but its no Wal-Mart parking lot.
Wilber American Legion Park - Wilber, NE
Wilber is about 30 miles south of I-80, exit 388 just west of Lincoln, NE. on
state highway 103. It has 30 and some 50 amp hookups available, with a
dump station at the north end of the park. Shaded park type atmosphere behind a
couple of American Legion sponsored baseball parks. Located
on south edge of town on highway 103. 30 amp site was $12, 50 amp
$14, don't remember fee for tents. It is a Passport America park, so 1/2
price for first night. Self pay envelopes are on backside of snack bar

This is a very nice state park. The sites are very spacious,
the grounds are well-kept, and there is a lot to do in the area. I wish the
campground had paved roads, and the bathhouses were old, but clean. I
appreciated the hot showers. There is no camp store but there is a little store

We have never stayed at such a clean and friendly
campground. The bathroom facilities are meticulously
maintained. This is a comparatively small campground with
facilities for all kinds of camping and each site is shaded by numerous
gorgeous pine trees which also lend to the feeling of privacy even when there
are people set up right next to you. New this August is a swimming
pool which is also clean and very nice. Scenes from and information about

New item RE Thousand Trails::
Hello Scott;
You ask a VERY difficult question, but I will try to give you the
best advice I can.
You ask "How much does Thousand Trails cost for membership?" The
problem is that TT has over 100 different types of memberships and
the number keeps growing every year! Over the years, TT has had
people say to them "If you only offered a membership that would suit
MY style of camping, then I would become a member". SO...
TT has
listened to their members and customized their memberships in a
hundred or more different ways.
Let me explain...
The original memberships covered the whole
said "I only travel in
coast", etc. So TT developed memberships for different zones of the
just on weekends, and no more than 50 days a year so why should I
pay for an unlimited use membership", so TT developed a membership
for part-time campers. Some people said "I don't like the 2 weeks
in-network and 1 week out-of-network requirement and I'd like to
stay in-network constantly to hold down my total camping costs", so
TT developed a membership for people who are high-volume users and
never have to leave the TT/Naco/
membership options goes on, and on, and on, and on.
So before any GOOD sales person can sell you the RIGHT Thousand
Trails membership, they need to ask you a bunch of questions to
understand YOUR particular needs and YOUR particular style of
camping. Here are just a few of the most critical factors YOU need
to understand about your camping style that can help you select the
right membership type.
Where do you go camping?
How often do you go camping?
How long do you like to stay in one place?
Would you mind staying out-of-network occasionally to get a lower
priced contract realizing that this will require more moving around?
Do you want a "new" or "resale" membership?
Do you know the differences between the legal terms of the "new" and
available "resale" memberships?
Do you care if there is a 50 day limit per year with a daily fee for
days over 50?
Do you really want/need unlimited in-network camping and are you
willing to pay the higher membership initiation fee to get it?
Do you want a 10 year contract or a 3 year contract or a one year
annually renewable contract?
Do the contract terms require full pay out and are you willing to
accept that risk?
Is the contract resaleable and if so, under what
terms?
Does the contract terms permit use by family members
and under what
terms and cost?
What are the other perks of the membership and do they have value to
me?
You see, Thousand Trails has a PERFECT membership to suit YOUR
needs, but you need to KNOW YOUR needs and explain them to a
knowledgeable sales person so that they can best help you pick the
right one for YOU!
I don't work for TT. I don't get paid a penny for telling you all
this. I DID spend several months studing all my
options before
deciding what to buy that suited my camping needs. Most people will
tell you "Go buy a resale (used) membership", but is that really the
RIGHT membership to suit your needs? In my case I bought a
membership, because it was exactly what I needed to suit MY style of
camping. Then I upgraded my membership to a different type when my
needs changed.
So, my answer to you is to find a knowledgeable and kind TT sales
person who you like and is willing to help you find the right
solution to YOUR camping needs. Some sales people think one size
fits all and will try to jam it down your throat, but that isn't
what you need. Working with a knowledgeable sales person can be a
great assistance to you and save you BIG BUCKS over your camping
life. Talk to sales folks selling new memberships and talk to
reputable dealers selling used memberships and do your homework.
Realize that each sales person will have a bias, but a truly good
salesman is worth his weight in gold because he/she will help you to
find the right answer to this most complex question -- "What kind of
membership camping should I buy?"
Kindest Regards,
Bob Kumza

Subject: re:Membership
Camping information
It is so true--it just depends on what your needs are, how much you're going
to use the "membership" system you buy and where you plan to do your rving.
Decide what membership is right for you, consider what camping experiences you
are looking for and then do a great deal of exploring to find the right one at
the cost that will pay for itself within a short span of time. Take the cost
of the membership and then the annual fees (if any), adding in the nightly camp
fees (if any), divided by the number of nights you plan to or can use it a
year, and from there decide how many years it would take to make it pay. You
have to factor in what you think it would cost you for those
same night at a
"non" membership campground and subtract the difference.
As an example several years ago we bought a used Western Horizon Resort
membership for transfer fees, we pay no nightly camp fees ever, no yearly dues
except for $25.00. We are able to use these parks all year any time for 2-3
weeks
at a time with one week out between visits (or we can buy our week out),
staying at the same park. Through this membership we enrolled in ROD (Resort of
Distinctions) for $99 annually, again no nightly camp fees and most of the TT
NACO & Leisure Time campgrounds are included in this campership
membership for no
nightly fees as well as, but time stay times and lengh
vary. This allows us
well over 200 parks to chose from for no nightly
camping fees. We use each of
these RV resorts systems extensively. Our yearly camping fees are almost none
exsistent.
Additionally we can use their other newwork affilates such as
for a varying annual cost ($69-79) and pay a night fee of $6-$8 giving us an
additional 350-1000 campgrounds to chose from when for some reason we
are not
within the "free" rv systems.
For us it has obviously was a very good choice and we very much enjoy the
resorts, but I am sure others have the same feeling about their membership pa
rk system. It is so important to ask the questions
and keep researching until
you find your specific fit.
Good Luck, Dianne
Another opinion:
Here's a little tutorial for those considering joining a membership CG

matter what the home park is like. It does matter where it is as most have a
125 mile rule. You can't use another CG within 125 miles of your home park.
(There are exceptions).
What you do need to determine is what kind of financial picture the home park
has. If the home park goes under, your C2C or
Sometimes it's better to consider an individual park rather than a large chain.
Another thing to consider is a resale membership. Much
cheaper than an initial
membrship. There are resale brokers or you can
find ads in RV magazines like
Good Sam's Highways, Trailer Life, Motorhome, etc. E-bay, if you are
comfortable, is another place to get a used campground membership.
I don't believe that there are any states that will enforce a
"lifetime"
contract. If you don't want the membership and don't want to continue to pay
annual dues, send a certified letter and tell them you are surrendering the
membership. You can also sell it, if it's in the contract provisions. Most
contracts
permit 1 or 2 resales. If you are paying the original
membership fee on a
note, you must honor the note. It's a financial obligation and you can't get
out
of it. Dues, once the CG purchase price is paid, are another issue.
We purchased our C2C home park as a resale in 1992. It is a single park and
there were many, many seasonal sites where members had invested $$ in decks,
etc. We figured that if management failed, the members would band togther to
keep it going because of their investments. We rarely visit that park, but we
do use the C2C membership quite often.
Even if you are at a presentation for a new membership sale, you can
negotiate. Campground memberships have very high markups. Salespeople will come
down a
lot if they really want to make a sale.
Stay away from Thousand Trails/NACO/Leisure Time Resorts. The land has been
sold and leased back for 14 years. They are agressively
marketing their parks
because the biggest asset in a membership CG is the membership list. Since
they no longer own the physical property, they are looking to build up their
list as it's their asset.
I hope this has helped.

There is no need to pay a high price and high annual dues
for a
membership park. We bought ours on the
resale market, and our combined
home park,
the several hundred parks for $8/night,
it takes less than 14 nights a
year to amortize our dues. (Our initial
buy-in was $349.)
