The win also marked the return of pitcher Mickey Callaway, activate
before Sunday's game from the disabled list, who began
the season 7-0 for Salt
Lake. Callaway won
Sunday's game in relief of Matt Wise to join Jason Ryan as the only two
pitchers in franchise history to win eight straight decisions.
Quinlan's 2 Homers, 8 RBI and Callaway's 7th Straight Win Blast
Trappers 19-2
Stingers 19, Edmonton Trappers 2
Robb Quinlan was 5-for-5 with two home runs
and 8 RBI and starting pitcher Mickey Callaway improved to 7-0 as the Stingers
romped past the Edmonton Trappers 19-2.
Callaway allowed two runs in the first inning, then held Edmonton scoreless for the next seven before turning the game over
to Brendan Donnelly to become the PCL's
first 7-game winner. The 7-0 record ties the best start to a
season of any Stingers/Buzz pitcher in franchise history; Jason Ryan did it in
2000 and Jeff Harris did it in 1998. Callaway also became just the fifth
pitcher in franchise history to win seven straight wins. Ryan holds the team
record for consecutive wins with eight.
Callaway Wins Sixth Straight As Stingers Stuff Sky Sox, 8-1 2002-05-07
Stinger starting pitcher Mickey Callaway
improved to 6-0 and his teammates backed him with eight runs as Salt Lake beat Colorado Springs 8-1 Tuesday night to tie the Sky Sox for first place in
the PCL's Central Division. The 26-year-old right-handed pitcher continued his
dominance of PCL hitters, allowing only four hits and
one run Tuesday in the Salt Lake Stingers' 8-1 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Franklin Covey Field. Having entered the game
with a 1.32 ERA, Callaway improved to 6-0 this season. Not that success is
anything new to him. Last season, while pitching for Durham of the International League, he was 11-7 with a 3.07 ERA.
Since 1999, he has a 40-17 record at the Triple-A level.
