Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park is located 23 miles east of Gabbs, via State Route 844. The park is open all year but extreme
winter weather may prohibit travel. Nestled at 7,000 feet on the scenic western
slope of central Nevada's Shoshone mountain range, the
park provides a vast array of stimulating recreational opportunities. The
forested slopes provide shade and breezes help to moderate the summer
temperatures which seldom exceed 90 F (32º C). Late spring and early fall can
often be the nicest times of the year. Winter visits to the park are possible,
but be certain to call for weather and road conditions.

Camping: 14 well-spaced units, some
suitable for RVs to 25 ft, with fire ring, BBQ grill, covered table, drinking
water (mid-April to October), and restrooms nearby. RV sanitary station is
available. As we came back from Quartzite we stopped in this place called
Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park. Lilli
Las Vegas
Just got
back from New Years at the Oasis RV Resort a few blocks away from the strip. They had
the strip closed down for the evening (to traffic), free public trans and
PARTY. It is still my
recommendation for the WC B.A.T (Beam-a-thon). If we get enough suggestions we
can set up a poll for location etc.... Come on! Lets all be part of "the first one" !!!
You might want to look at Silverton Hotel Casino RV park
-- I have a friend who really likes it and it was rated MUCH higher in the
Unofficial Guide to rv parks. Just an idea. Linda in Texas
Sams Town
We stayed
here 6 nights in October 2005. Easy access from Boulder Hwy with
side-by-side hook-ups. Some are pull-thrus and some are a bit
unusual in that you pull into the site and back-out of it when leaving. Park is
very tidy and well kept, there are relatively mature trees trees
that look nice and throw some shade but they don't actually provide any relief
from the heat in the summer. The pool looks nice although we didn't use it, the
laundry was not all that clean but large and a bargain for wash and dry. Bathrooms
and showers in the laundry/pool complex were clean and well maintained; the
showers are fairly small but there are quite a few of them. We had two back in
sites, one for a MH and one for a TT. My
suggestion is to pay extra for the PT’s. The sites are much nicer and further
away from the highway noise. They forbid
Sams Town employees from staying there, but based upon a few old MH’s and
trailers, with Nevada tags or one with an expired drive out tag and nothing
else, it appears a few workers at nearby casinos are staying there. I only noticed this in the “back in”
area. Have a confirmation in writing,
especially as to the rate. We were
quoted a rate of $20 and the employee would only point to a paper taped to the
counter that said “new rates, Oct. 1”.
The rate only went up a few dollars, but this was not something the
employees would discuss and the person who booked the sites failed to get a
confirmation.
Reno-Carson City
Reno area
campground.
There is an under used campground that almost no one seems to know about at the
south end of Washoe Lake on East Lake Blvd. It is Washoe Lake State Park,
dumping is $3 if you are not camping. They cater to equestrians and there
are boat ramps on the lake. The para sailors
and hang gliders use the hill above the park and land in the park. We haved not stayed there, just dumped, since my daughter
lives in the valley and we stay at her house. TAke
Hwy 395 to the south turnoff
for East Lake Blvd, closest to Carson City and go east to the park
entrance. Go to http://travel.yahoo.com/p-parks-217154-
