Wind Creek is Located
seven miles southeast of Alexander City,
this park spans 1,445 acres along the shores of Lake Martin, which is a 41,000 area clear
water reservoir perfect for fishing, swimming and boating. Park facilities
include 669 sites, many of which are waterfront sites allowing campers to
fish, swim and boat right out their back door. There is also a marina, camp
store, fishing pier, hiking trails, playground and picnic areas with tables,

Toulouse Historical site/fees less than 15 dollars a nite/uncrowded/overall experience ***

highway US 98 take county 49 about 3 miles
south at Magnolia Springs. On right, second turn in at golf course. Phone
unknown.
38 sites. NEW campground. Full hookup, no cable tv. Some pull thrus. New sites, so
grass has not grown. $18.. Some shade. Quiet.
Goose Pond
Colony
Scottsboro, Jackson County, on lake guntersville; on lake Guntersville, about 4 miles out of town. Sites range from no hookups to water, elect and sewage. Next to a golf course. sites are normal sized, most are shaded. Probably better than most. Overall experience is ***+ out of 4.

try to visit Cathedral Caverns for several World Records in caves, including

Greenville ,
Shirling Park is a
county park, and deserves a 10 rating for beauty. It is clean, landscaped,
with sites not close together, with full hookups. There are azalea, dogwood,
and other flowers,
with excellent paved roads and sites. It is located about 3 miles west of
Greenville AL,
next to a Robert Trent Jones golf course, and in town are several excellent
restaurants.
Fees are about $14. I highly recommend it.
Gulf Breeze
Resort -

All sites are full hook-ups with cable, some sites have phone hook-ups. They
have an indoor pool, and outdoor pool, pond for fishing/paddleboats. Very nice
campground about 5 miles from the Gulf. Sites are nice sized with cement patios
and a grill. Fees are $22 per night and less by the month. Clean bath house
with a big laundry.

RV resort over Spring Break, April, 2001. $22 for a full hookup site. The site
was decently sized. They also have rental units available. Not much shade.
Beautiful indoor and outdoor pools, shuffleboard, fishing pond, 2 laundry
rooms, etc. Clean and well kept facilities. Quiet at night. Friendly staff.
Reservations accepted. An eight out of ten!

Island Retreat RV
www.islandretreatrv.com New park. Very, very friendly staff. Even escorted me to my site! Very close to Gulf (bay) fishing. Pool, full hook-ups, $24.50/night but is a Good Sam Park ($22.05 with the 10% discount). Concrete pads. Quiet, child-friendly place. I-10 on to Highway 59 South, turn right at Burger King in Gulf Shores on to Highway 180, about 3 miles.
McCalla; Tannihill
Historic State Park
is located at McCalla
AL, with the turnoff at mile 100 on Interstate 59, a few miles south of
Birmingham.
This is a large park, with almost 300 sites, a child-size railroad with tours
the park for
$1, and a great restaurant (being rebuilt after a fire). There are many
restored log cabins,
with 3 of these available for renting. The area is mountainous, with MANY
trees, and 2
streams bubbling through. There is a restored iron mill, destroyed by the
Yankees in 1865.
On the 3rd weekend of each month Trade Days is held, and the place is packed.
Other times there
is plenty of room. Some sites have sewage, all have 30 or 50 amps, and water.
No cable TV,
and reception on antennae is poor due to the mountains. This is my favorite
campground.
Restrooms are large and clean, and there is a small store in a restored
building. An Iron
and Steel museum is on site, free, and a restored school and church. Fees are
about $18.
Scottsboro Area
Parnell Creek RV Park is a family owned and operated park. Your hosts, the
Roberts family welcomes you to Parnell Creek. Kevin, Dawn and Will are ready to
make your stay a pleasant one. A GOOD SAM Park.

TUSCALOOSA,
LAKE LURLEEN ST. PK.
This is one of the prettiest parks I have seen.
Hilly, forested, a beautiful lake, with some sites
'over' the lake. All hookups except TV, but antenna reception is good from
Tuscaloosa and
Birmingham. About 70 sites. Sites at lakeside do not have sewage. Boat rental,
canoe rental,
etc. Fishing. All Alabama state parks are beautiful and well run. This park is
in Northport, west of Tuscaloosa, off highway 82. Fees about $18. We agree with
Norm. This is one of our favorite campgrounds. The camp is great for kids. Our
oldest rides his bike from sunup to sundown and our youngest would spend all of
his time in the museum if we'd let him. We prefer loops 2 and 3 in the
campground. Loop 1 is near the entrance to the park and the sites seem to be
more crowded. Our full review of Tannehill will be
